Who provides LensUp
LensUp is operated by Springtide Labs LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. These terms cover the lensup.ai website and the browser-based tools published on it. Using the site means you accept them.
Using LensUp
You may use the LensUp browser tools for lawful document and image processing, personally or commercially, at no charge; they create no account and no licence is granted to us over anything you process. One page, Photo to Markdown, also offers a paid, optional service, Fix with Pro, governed by the section below. You are responsible for the files you use, for holding the rights to them, and for complying with the rules of any authority or service that receives an output.
You may not attempt to disrupt the site, circumvent its rate limits or security controls, or redistribute the site’s own code and content as a competing service. Using the tools themselves, on your own files, in the ordinary way, is exactly what they are for.
Your files
Documents and images you open in LensUp are processed by your browser on your device and are not uploaded to our servers — with one exception you trigger yourself: a photo you send with Fix with Pro (below). We therefore do not hold, review, back up or recover them. If your browser tab closes mid-task, the work in it may be lost, and we have no copy to restore. Keep your own original of anything that matters. Details of what we do and do not collect are in the Privacy Policy.
Photo to Markdown Pro (paid)
Fix with Pro sends the photo you selected, on that click only, through our server to Mathpix, Inc. for recognition and returns its text to your browser; we do not keep the photo or the text. It requires signing in with your e-mail address (a one-time link, no password) and credits. Credits are sold in packs through Stripe (currently 50 runs for US$4.99, one-time, no subscription); one credit is used per completed run, and a run that fails on our side or the vendor’s side uses none. Credits are tied to the e-mail address you signed in with, do not expire while the account exists, and are not transferable. If you want a refund of unused credits, write to us within 14 days of the purchase; refunds are issued through Stripe and the corresponding credits are removed. Pro results are recognition output: review them before relying on them, as with the free tools. We may change the price of future packs; credits already bought keep their value in runs.
Results are best effort, and external requirements are not ours
This is the most important limitation on the page, so it is stated plainly.
- Compression targets are attempts, not guarantees. LensUp reduces quality and, where necessary, resolution to approach a size you choose, and returns the smallest file it managed to produce. A very small target on a detailed page may be unreachable.
- Opening an existing PDF rasterises it. Pages are rendered locally into images, so the exported file has no selectable text, form fields, links or vector content.
- Previews are not proofs. What you see on screen can differ from what a printer, an operating system print dialog, or a third-party upload portal produces.
- Size presets and guidance do not guarantee acceptance. No output is certified, endorsed or pre-approved by any government, employer, school, bank or examination body.
Where a LensUp page states an official requirement, it cites the authority that published it and the date we checked. Those requirements change. Before you submit or print anything that matters, check the current official notice yourself. The tool can meet a number; only the receiving body can accept a document.
Availability and changes
LensUp is provided on an as-available basis, without a promise that every browser, device, printer or external service will behave identically. Features may change or be withdrawn to improve safety, correctness or maintainability — automatic edge detection, for example, was removed after it cropped real documents incorrectly. Material changes to these terms will be reflected in the updated date above; continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the revised terms.
Prohibited use
Do not use LensUp to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, to distribute malware, to interfere with the service or other users, or to produce or alter a document in order to misrepresent it as authentic. Producing a forged or falsified identity document, certificate or official record is prohibited outright, whatever the tool is technically capable of.
Advertising
LensUp is funded by advertising supplied by Google AdSense and its partners. Advertisements come from third parties, and their presence is not an endorsement by us of any advertiser, product or claim. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. What advertising vendors can and cannot collect — and, importantly, that they never receive the files you process — is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Third-party components
The tools are built on open-source components used under their own licences, including Mozilla’s pdf.js for reading PDFs, ONNX Runtime Web and the MODNet model for portrait matting in the passport-photo tool, and browser platform APIs for image decoding and canvas processing. Those licences govern those components; nothing here restricts rights you have under them.
Intellectual property
The LensUp name, the site design, the written guidance and the tool implementations are ours or our licensors’. You keep every right in the files you process; we acquire none. Quoting a short passage from a guidance page with attribution and a link is welcome. Republishing pages wholesale is not.
Disclaimer and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LensUp is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, or any consequence of a document being rejected by a third party. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case the narrowest permitted limitation applies. Where you use LensUp as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the benefit of its own rules and forum.
